Claims Adjuster
We're looking for a licensed claims adjuster or damage appraiser to help build new consumer experiences within the Collision Consumer Advocates appraisal team.
Overview
This role is responsible for investigating and confirming the facts of loss for automobile accidents ranging from basic to advanced scenarios. The candidate will be entrusted to apply analytical thinking to determine coverage, liability, and damages. This involves creating or auditing comprehensive estimates of damages for both 1st and 3rd party claims, while adjusting and negotiating claims within the given authority. The position also emphasizes mentoring, training, and ensuring quality control on material damage claims.
Job Description
- Handle investigations regarding all aspects of auto claims, including coverage, liability, damages, and subrogation, exercising discretion and independence as required.
- Apply a robust understanding of insurance policies written by the company, the industry, and the organizational relationships within the company.
- Determine subrogation or fraud potential and decide on the course of action.
- Create or audit estimates of damages on first- and third-party property damage losses.
- Negotiate settlements, make payments, and document all activities on complex files across multiple lines.
- Recognize and identify vehicle body parts and comprehend other potential property damages.
- For claims involving injuries or fraud, collaborate with the appropriate teams or representatives to ensure the best outcome.
- Cultivate strong relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Identify customer needs and cater to them with top-tier customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or high school equivalent certificate such as GED.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or G-Suite and an aptitude to learn company-specific systems.
- Familiarity with estimatics software such as CCC ONE.
- Familiarity with electronic devices, including computers, cameras, and cell phones.
- Exceptional customer service orientation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to handle global case management.
- Problem-solving and analytical prowess; capability to recognize issues from various sources.
- Proficiency in both written and verbal communication, with exceptional proofreading skills.
- Demonstrated discretion and professionalism in handling confidential matters.
- Resilient problem-solving abilities and the capacity to function under pressure.
- Independently driven, yet can work efficiently within a team environment.
- Adaptable to shifting priorities.
- A valid driver’s license in good standing.
- English fluency, including reading, writing, speaking, and hearing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree or equivalent experience.
- 0-2 years of related experience for basic automobile accidents, with preference for candidates having 2 or more years of experience in advanced scenarios.
- Fluent in another language besides English
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- North Carolina Motor Vehicle Damage Appraiser license
- An independent P&C insurance adjuster license with compliance or reciprocity in North Carolina
Job Setting & Physical Demands
Employees in this role primarily operate in a remote or virtual setting but may need to travel between office locations. The position is predominantly sedentary, with occasional tasks like filing which demand lifting, standing, or bending. Effective use of computers and standard office tools like phones, copiers, and fax machines is essential. Occasional travel and flexibility in working hours/days to meet business needs are expected.
